It’s fair to say that the Ewok Festival Of Love isn’t just about being lost deep in romance, It’s also about celebrating special bonds and friendships. As we all know there are dozens of friendships within the Star Wars universe that form a deep and powerful connection with us; the audience. This Friday we explore some favorite friendships that appear across Star Wars & Star Wars Galaxies.
Han Solo and Chewbacca

Han Solo and Chewbacca have what many people believe to be a totally unbreakable bond. Their friendship due to a Wookiee life debt, this is slightly explored within the 2017 movie release of ‘A Star Wars Story - Solo’ We always see Chewbacca right by Han’s side even without that obligation or questioning. Their friendship is a true on-screen ‘bromance’ they show so much affection and kindness towards each other, and they save each other’s skins repeatedly (throughout all 3 Era of Star Wars, pretty special I’d say) This is the friendship that each of us dreamt of having at one point in our lives I’m sure.
Rey & Finn

From the moment we are introduced to this duo It’s hard not to recognize their special friendship. We meet Rey and Finn for the first time on Jakku within the sequel era of Star Wars, right from the start we see a true friendship starting to form, I sometimes feel their friendship is more of a brother and sister type thing, always looking out for each other. I believe the friendship is so tight because they’ve both come from nothing and found an identity within the resistance and becoming part of something much larger.
Poe Dameron and BB-8

From the starting moments of the Star Wars sequel trilogy It’s nearly impossible to miss the special connection between BB-8 & Poe Dameron. BB-8 always appears far more animated and manages to vocalize lots of ‘happy beeps’ when in the presence of his master, Poe. We can only imagine what kind of mischief these two cause on a daily basis within the Star Wars universe.
Zeb and Ezra

When Ezra Bridger first joined the crew of Ghost, Zeb’s facial expression said it all. He appeared to be repulsed by Ezra’s presence on the ship. However, it didn’t take long before they worked it out and were constantly up to different conundrums. They appear to have such a playful friendship yet sometimes it’s clear to say you feel some rivalry/tension between them.
R2-D2 and C-3PO

R2-D2 and C-3PO, what is there to say about their friendship? It’s the friendship each of us hope we’ll experience at some point during our lives. I feel like It’s like watching two very elderly friends sat down trying to get along while making the most of life. Their bond is so intricate It’s almost like they can predict what the other is processing, let’s not forget they are also probably the most funny comic relief moments to appear within any of the Star Wars movies.
Cassian Andor & KS20
These two were only on-screen for the duration of one Star Wars movie, yet they managed to captivate such a loyal friendship within a fairly limited period of time. K2S0 is everything that Cassian could want and expect from a droid companion. The scenes within Scarif Citadel highlight the special bond these two have, you can also tell that Jyn Erso has a soft side for both of these lovable characters. The best thing is that we haven't seen the last of Cassian Andor & K2S0, which are both returning in an upcoming Disney+ live-action series! We're excited about that, are you?
