How long did you play the live version of Star Wars Galaxies?
Gosh...on and off from beta until near the end I think. Several things in SWG Legends were new to me, so I probably stopped about a year from the game’s closure.
What type of work do you do?
Clerical and tech support. Video editing and script reading on the side.
What does a typical Star Wars Galaxies day consist of for you?
I bounce between crafting, questing, space and just bumming around chatting and helping newbs.
What was the race and profession of your very first character?
Human Creature Handler
What is the one thing you’ve always wanted to be in Star Wars Galaxies that isn’t or is no longer?
I’ve always wanted to be a junk dealer, which has been a kind of meta-profession that you could cobble together from other professions and activities. But I think a skill tree that let you really play as Watto would be awesome and very Star Warsy.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other than playing Star Wars Galaxies?
Writing, reading, playing a lot of other video games (just finished the new XCOM and DOOM Eternal). YouTube also, I like trying to figure out how it works and how to get videos in front of people. It’s hard to get eyes on what you do!
What race and profession is your main character?
Twi-Lek Jedi. I was determined not to play Jedi in Legends since I spent months getting one pre-NGE but the community voted for it and now he’s my favourite character.
What do you like most about the profession you have chosen for your main character?
I’m not sure. I like the tankiness of the Light Side Jedi. He stays standing even when surrounded by a ton of enemies!
What faction is your main character?
Neutral - although he dabbles when needed (ie: to get the jedi starfighter, certain types of armour). I use the factions, they don’t use me!
What is your favourite player owned ship?
Currently the YT-2400. I love the fact that a small group works together to pilot it. Very immersive and still something few space games allow.
What is your favourite ground vehicle?
My trusty old swoop! And my skiff; never go to Mustafar without one!
How did you choose your main character's name?
I try to make my main alter ego some twist on the name Napyet so it’s easier for people to remember. So Naplu is a mashup of Napyet and Lekku (because he’s a Twi-Lek and they have Lekku...sorry).
What is your favourite planet and/or city and why?
Tatooine. The other planets are great but nothing says Star Wars to me like Tatooine does. And Bespin (hurry up!)
What is your favourite NPC?
Jabba!
What are the most credits you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters?
I spent 70 million on the guardian jewelry set. It still stings! But at least I didn’t have to grind heroics for it.
What do you like best about SWG Legends?
The community. It’s so positive compared to other online games I’ve played. There’s a sense of family. I get a fair bit of negativity on YouTube from a-holes who don’t get why you’re playing such an old game, or those still nursing their sense of betrayal for the NGE, but the community inside the game is amazing. Also the staff are doing a bang up job and could teach many “professional” live service games a thing or two.
Describe your best experience playing Star Wars Galaxies.
The very early days setting up our first player city. Trying to survive before the spawning was tweaked to prevent lairs appearing right outside your door. It was like a western, we were settling a new frontier.
What is your favourite questline and/or place within Star Wars Galaxies and why?
Currently my house on a hill outside Mos Entha! No-one else can build there (I’ve made sure of it with the strategic placement of a factory!) I like my solitude. Mos Eisley cantina is next - for when I’m tired of being alone!
